Great Mower

I have had my mower (model CMM-1000 type-1) for almost 6 years now. I replaced the batteries and blade once after the 3rd year (I could not find anyplace that would sharpen the blade). I had .35 acres at my old house which if I kept up with my mowing I could do in one mow, otherwise it would occasionally take 2. My current house is .30 acres and I can get all but the last 5 feet of my yard mowed almost every time, the last 5 feet are in a runoff area and it grows about 5 times faster than the rest of my yard. After 6 years I love the mower and am considering buying another one. The foam has fallen off the handles and the wheels are cracking and starting to wobble, plus at the end of this season I would be due for another set of batteries (every 3 years is my schedule) so by the time I would do all those repairs I would probably be halfway to a new mower and the new ones are lighter.

The mower is great and for 6 years I only spent $120 in maintenance (new batteries were $80, new blade was $20, 4 blade sharpenings at $5 each). Considering I buy no gas or oil, never need to give it tune-ups, and the charging is only about $1 per year (I have a meter that tracks the mower's consumption) I am quite thrilled with it.
Excellent Mower and Easy to Use

I have about 1500 square feet of lawn. I turned in my old gasoline 19" mower for this one, and have never regretted it. This mower (B & D Electric Mulching Mower, Model CMM1000, 19-inch, 24 Volt, Cordless) is definitely quieter than my old gas mower and does not add to the smog. It handles and maneuvers about the same as my old gas mower. I love the instant on and off. My old gasoline mower, if I had to shut it off temporarily, such as to empty the grass catcher bag, the gas mower was very difficult to start up again. One shortcoming though, the grass catcher bag on this B & D electric mower does not work as well as my old gasoline mower; filling about 1/3 of capacity. However, I mostly use the mulching feature, which does not use a bag and is healthier for the lawn. I have had mine for more than 8 years, and only replaced the blade when it became dull. Best of all, no more dependence on gasoline. So, this mower is perfect for the lawn that is too big to mow with human power.

It appears the CMM1000 model is being replaced by the Black & Decker CMM1200 19-Inch 24-Volt Cordless Electric Mulching Lawn Mower, at a cheaper price than the $500 I paid for mine.
I do not like this mower.

I suffered through 3 summers of using this mower through shear idiocy and stubbornness. It was very heavy, hard to turn and maneuver. It only would mow less than a quarter of an acre. The lack of cord was nice and it would turn on very easily, but overall I was glad to be rid of that beast.
